RULES &
REGULATIONS
- ALL
ANIMALS MUST BE REGISTERED WITH THE AMERICAN HIGHLAND CATTLE ASSOCIATION
OR THE CANADIAN HIGHLAND CATTLE SOCIETY.
- Entry
fee is $30.00 per animal with the exception of group classes and DUE BY
MARCH 25, 2004.
- Cattle
must be in place by April 30, 2004 12:00 PM
- Exhibitors
are required to post a card over each animal stating: name, registration
#, birthdate, sire & dam
- Exhibitor’s
numbers must be worn while showing.
- Farm
signs and decorations are encouraged.
- All
animals must be tied with a neck rope in addition to a regular halter.
- The
exhibitor is responsible for the health of the animal. The Show Committee
has the right to call for the services of a veterinarian to treat an
animal that is sick or injured if the exhibitor is not available. The fee
must be paid by the exhibitor prior to the release of the animal.
- Any
animal deemed uncontrollable by the Ring Steward will be excused from the
show ring.
- Rule
violations will be handled by AHCA
and they reserve the right to refuse any entry application. Artificially
altering the natural conformation or structure of an animal is strictly
prohibited for this event. In addition, the use of growth hormones is
forbidden. Every exhibitor bringing his/her animals to the show represents
the animals as being free from unnatural alteration and growth hormones.
Each exhibitor also agrees to submit any entries to any inspection deemed
necessary.
- The
Show Committee will use reasonable diligence to insure the safety of the
exhibitors after their arrival and placement, but in no case will they be
responsible for any loss or damage done to, occasioned by, or arising from
any animals or articles on exhibition. The exhibitors shall indemnify the
Show Committee, AHCA and MAHA of all legal or other proceedings in regard
thereto. The placing of any exhibits on the show grounds by any and all
signify their agreement to abide by this rule.
- Bulls
twelve months of age and older must be shown with rings or nose leads.
- Premier
Breeder & Premier Exhibitor awards will be given to the breeder or
exhibitor having the highest number of points based on a maximum of the
six highest placing animals in the single classes owned by that breeder or
exhibitor. Points shall be awarded as follows: 1st-7 pts, 2nd-6
pts, 3th-5pts, 4th-4 pts, 5th-3 pts, 6th-2
pts, 7th-1pt. No points given for Division or Grand Champion.
- Animals
shown in the Junior Show and Showmanship Division must be first entered in
their respective open division classes.
- AHCA
Rules for sanctioned shows:
- Exhibitors
must be members in good standing of the American Highland Cattle
Association or the Canadian Highland Society
- All
animals must be owned by the exhibitor and registered with AHCA or CHCS.
- Registration
papers must be presented to show officials or AHCA representatives upon
request.
- Tattoos
must be legible and correspond to registration papers.
- Use of
hormones or steroids in animals is prohibited.
- Breeding
cattle may not be dehorned.
- Exhibitors
agree to abide by the IAFE (International Association of Fair and
Expositions) National Code of Ethics.
HEALTH
REQUIREMENTS
1. An Official Interstate or Intrastate Certificate from
the state of origin must accompany all animals. Animals offered for sale should be listed one per certificate.
- Cattle
with signs of infection, contagious or toxicological disease shall be
removed from the show or be isolated on the premise.
- TB –
All animals must have tested negative for tuberculosis within 30 days
prior to the show or originate from a TB free herd and the herd number
listed.
- Brucellosis
– All non-vaccinates must have a negative brucellosis result within 30
days prior to the show. Vaccinated females over 18 months of age and bulls
over 6 months of age must test negative for brucellosis within 30 days
prior to the show. Female vaccinates under 18 months require no test.
- All
animals must be vaccinated/boostered against BVD within 180 days prior to
the show and no fewer than 15 days prior to the show.
- The results of the tests and vaccination dates
must be recorded on the health chart.

- Divisions
will be split into classes at the discretion of the show committee.
- There
is no charge for group classes, but please indicate so on entry form.

sure to include name of sire for Get-of-Sire and name of dam for Produce
of Dam

please include the name, age and sire of both the cow and the calf. Calf
must be cow’s natural calf and be a maximum of 250 days old.
